![]() ![]() #AvengersEndgame /9Th7JWoLh6- Black Girl Nerds March 14, 2019Ĭredit billing is a complex process that involves loads of negotiation by agents, fees, and a whole mess of things to decide who earns a “with,” an “and,” and even how big or small names appear on a poster. And finally, see why I think the previous Avengers: Endgame poster is exactly why Michonne is leaving The Walking Dead.Odd to not see Danai Guirira's name on this poster.Read why I think the controversy surrounding Captain Marvel makes humanity look bad.Strange will be rescued somehow-something about the Quantum Realm and time travel maybe-but will Steve Rogers and Tony Stark survive?Īvengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th. Of course T'Challa and Peter Parker and Dr. But if you spin it around and think of it this way-about which of the surviving Avengers you should be worried about-you pump a lot of that tension back into the story. The biggest problem with the ending of Infinity War is that it sucked a lot of the tension out of the story. Characters like Black Panther, Captain Marvel and Spider-Man, not to mention the Guardians of the Galaxy, will carry the torch from here. All these fallen are relatively new characters, most of whom joined the MCU after the opening few films that introduced Thor, Hulk, Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow and so forth. One thing is certain: The MCU will be forever changed when Endgame' s credits roll. But those stars' contracts are over now, and a decade is a long time to stick around even such a monumentally successful film franchise. This is the final act in a decade-long cinematic experiment that has gone remarkably well for Marvel and Disney and has made many of these actors even bigger stars. I guarantee not every one of these characters is going to make it to the end credits. These posters are where Endgame's actual casualties can be found. You should be afraid for the people in the survivor category, in the color posters. The real issue is what the consequences for this will be. They are going to bring back the fallen, not avenge them (with the exception of Nebula who is absolutely out for blood.) We don't know for sure how Captain America and the rest of the original Avengers are going to save the day, but we do know that they're going to save the day somehow. It's about figuring out what that one-in-14 million chance that Dr. Captain America isn't going to go all John Wick and shoot up Thanos out of a need for vengeance. This isn't going to be some crazy, violent revenge flick. The tagline "Avenge The Fallen" is not what Endgame is going to be about. They're not like those cleaning products that for the love of god won't clean anything up. These folks in the black and white posters are all essentially safe. The second point I want to make is that we're all worrying about the wrong superheroes here. Where's the Thanos poster? Credit: Marvel/Disney Probably not, but it's the one Infinity War death I'm willing to accept as permanent. That's why when he sacrificed his adopted daughter, Gamora, that moment was so much more emotionally powerful than watching all these characters go up in smoke. Thanos does his magic Infinity Stone snap and wipes out half the universe, but that's just such a drastic move, such a massive genocide, that we know it can't be permanent. This is the biggest problem with the ending to Infinity War. Spider-Man can't die any more than Superman can-at least, not for long. We know this because there's already trailers for Spider-Man: Far From Home out there. We know this because we've already been told that Black Panther will be back after that movie ended, that the Guardians of the Galaxy will be back (again) especially now that James Gunn is back on the payroll to write and direct the third film. ![]() We know this because there's simply no way Disney and Marvel are going to kill off all their newer characters in one fell swoop. We know that all of these characters are coming back. It doesn't matter who survived the Snapture at the end of Infinity War. ![]()
